HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The link below has helpful information to keep your pipes from freezing in this cold weather.
Two items we would highlight:
1- Keep your thermostats set above 55 is you lower them to go away. Pipes are not always in the room where the thermostat is, so those spaces can be colder. Also, if there is a heating problem 55 gives some cushion for heat energy in your home before it gets too cold.
2- BEWARE OF SETBACK THERMOSTATS – especially in well-insulated, high-performance homes like the ones we build. The setback can take a long time to drop temperatures and raise temperatures, increasing the possibility of pipes freezing.
In every home built by Cayuga Country Homes, we suggest finding a temperature you like and leaving it alone. If you really want to lower the thermostat at night, keep the setback temperature no more than 3 degrees lower than normal.
Happy New Year!
